Calling on the International Community in New York

UN Symphony Orchestra is looking for musicians!

If you play an instrument, please join our exciting ensemble. Players of varied skill levels are invited, as long as you can read music.  We are in most urgent need of following instruments: 

  • Basses 
  • Oboes 
  • Bassoons 
  • French Horns 
  • Trombones 
  • More strings (violins, violas, cellos) 

If you have the blue UN Identification card, or if someone in your family has one, you are eligible to join. Everyone is welcome: 

  • Staff members of UN, UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA and other UN organizations in New York, and their wives, husbands, partners, parents, musically advanced, well-behaved children
  • Diplomats working for Permanent Missions to the UN, and their wives, husbands, partners, parents, musically advanced, well-behaved children
  • Members of NGOs (accredited to the UN) living and working in NY
  • Journalists accredited to the UN
  • Consultants working for the UN, UNDP UNICEF, UNFPA and other UN
  • organizations in NY

If you love playing music, you will love playing with us. Even if the instrument you play is not on this list, please come, we won’t turn anyone away. Our first rehearsal is scheduled for Wednesday, 5 October in the 3rd Floor Staff Lounge at One UN Plaza (also known as DC1 building, 1st Ave and 44rth St).
